Typography

The foundation of this conference theme is built on simple shapes that come together to create letterforms. This new geometric type was used throughout the conference branding as a display type face to add emphasis and a bold personality to our messaging. The typeface was built to be flexible and includes many alternates in case of specific needs.

The theme heavily utilized the letters from the word “open” in particular, both to spell the word for key art and also to be used abstractly.

Color

I created this color palette with intentions to convey a fun, bold, and fresh tech conference. The palette most heavily relies on a light blue, teal, and navy while allowing for pops of Red Hat’s signature red for branding recognition and contrast.

Abstraction

A main goal I had when developing this theme was building in as much flexibility as possible. For this reason, youll often see the “o, p, e, and n” from “open” used abstractly, scaled, and paired with a dot grid texture. This allowed Red Hat to use the theme globally without concern for language, and aided in usability in responsive situations on the web.
